Counselling

Helps people through stressful situations or difficult times. It can be used short term to help with specific problems or longer term for dealing with more enduring circumstances.

Some people may not know why they are struggling but they know they need assistance. Counselling can help you find a way forwards in your life.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy can also be a way of moving forwards and is often seen as a continuation of the counselling process.

Psychotherapy allows the client and therapist to look more deeply at things like exploration of difficult feelings, identification of behaviour patterns, uncomfortable, awkward or even self damaging situations that appear to continue to repeat themselves. Psychotherapy can assist recovery, allowing the client to move forwards and feel better about themselves and their situation.

Like counselling, psychotherapy can be used to assess and deal with issues irrespective of how large or small they may be. Life changing events like a loss of a loved one, losing a job, a relationship ending or encountering financial hardship can have an immense impact upon a person.

These experiences can have a devastating effect upon a person's general wellbeing. Sometimes just the opportunity to explore feelings and the ability to talk to somebody impartial about them can be enough. A competent therapist will know how to listen and respond to a person who has suffered these types of enduring circumstances.

Counselling/Psychotherapy sessions last for approximately one hour. Frequency of these sessions are decided by both the client and therapist together depending upon time and budget constraints but are normally scheduled on a weekly basis in the very early days of therapy. As improvements are noted the frequency between sessions can be lengthened. Regular reviews are carried out to ensure the client feels comfortable at all times with arrangements that are put in place.

ENIGMA offers both short term counselling or longer term psychotherapy dependant upon the clients’ unique requirements.

FAQ's

The simplistic answer is just about anyone and you do not necessarily need to be in a period of crisis in your life. There may be a few specific areas you wish to address, personal development opportunities or there may be more far reaching issues that require longer term psychotherapy

This depends very much in part to the individual seeking counselling. Some people require just a few sessions to talk through one or more specific areas, others may require more in depth exploration of issues and this will take the form of more longer term therapy. Whatever the requirement, confidential sessions are held in a safe environment and provided on a tailor made basis to suit each individuals' needs.
